About Nat Coalson
 

Nathaniel 'Nat' Coalson (b. 1970) is an American photographic artist with studios in Colorado and England. Nat began his career as a graphic designer in 1987 and began practicing fine art photography in 2003. His work has been exhibited extensively, received numerous awards and is held in private and corporate collections worldwide. An acclaimed teacher and accomplished writer, Nat has authored many photography books for major publishers currently in global distribution.

Nat's body of photographic work encompasses travel and scenic imagery as well as pure abstraction. His work is based on travel, exploration and experimentation. Drawing upon his background in design, most images exhibit strong graphic qualities with vibrant colors and rich textures. The photographs are reproduced as fine art prints on a wide variety of materials. Nat also creates mixed media works by printing the images on canvas, wood or metal and then hand-embellishing with acrylic, foil and other natural and traditional art materials. The artworks are designed as fine decor in residential and hospitality properties.

Nat describes his artistic inspiration as “… traveling the world, discovering the authentic beauty hidden in ordinary places. Using my camera like a painter uses paints and brushes … I work to create engaging, enigmatic imagery that reveals the true essence of the subject but also remains open to the interpretation and emotions of each viewer. I want you to make each image your own.”
